The 22-year-old believes he can prove himself the pound-for-pound number one in the world. In a short time period, the master trainer Freddie Roach uncovered the true potential of the Olympic silver medalist from 2004.
Fighting in America would help to spread his name around the world. Meanwhile, Khan's first defence of the WBA title - against Dmitry Salita on December 5 - will take place in Newcastle.

Australia wins Champions Trophy
Tuesday 6 October 2009
A second successive hundred from Shane Watson brought Australia the Champions Trophy with a six-wicket win over New Zealand at Centurion Park.

Along with Cameron White (62), Watson rebuilt Australia's innings from 6-2 to take them past their target of 201. Off-spinner Nathan Hauritz (3-37) had earlier restricted New Zealand to 200-9, with Martin Guptill (40) top-scoring in a poor batting display. Fresh from an unbeaten 136 against England on Friday, Watson greeted the arrival of New Zealand's second-string seam attack, dispatching anything short and wide for four.
Consolidation arrived in the form of Neil Broom and James Franklin, with the pair compiling a patient 65-run stand in 14 overs. Watson took Australia past their winning target and celebrated the victory.

The former 250cc champion, Lorenzo, started from pole position and retook the lead after losing it to Dani Pedrosa, who occupied the last position of the podium. This victory means that Lorenzo is now 18 points behind the Italian Rossi.
This is the Spaniard's fourth victory of the season. The Yamaha rider said: "I was very confident before the race because I knew I was first in every practice." There are three races of the season to go.

Sebastian Vettel wins Japanese GP
Sunday 4 October 2009
Sebastian Vettel won the Japanese Grand Prix but championship leader Button remained in control, adding more points. The Englishman now leads the title race from team-mate Rubens Barrichello, who came seventh in Japan, by 14 points. The second one arrived at Suzuka was Toyota’s Trulli, ahead of Hamilton.

Having signed for a pole position, Red Bull’s Vettel led from start to finish, grabbing 10 points with an impressive drive and now he is 16 points behind Button. "What a race," said Vettel. "We were pretty confident of defending the start but it was closer than I thought it would be going into Turn One.” Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen finished fourth.
The next and penultimate race will be on 18 October in Brazil. Button will win the title in Brazil if he finishes third or better, or if Vettel finishes lower than second and Barrichello lower than fourth, or if he outscores Barrichello by four points.
